Elon Musk says Twitter will let publishers charge article
Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, recently announced that the platform will introduce a new feature allowing media publishers to charge users for individual articles with a single click. Musk believes this will benefit both the public and media organizations. The feature will be launched this month, and users who don’t sign up for a monthly subscription can pay a higher per-article price to read occasional articles.
Before this announcement, Musk had disclosed plans to earn revenue from content on the website by taking a 10% cut on content subscriptions after the first year. He had also mentioned that the company wouldn’t take a cut for the first 12 months on content subscriptions.
Since taking over the social media company in October, Musk has implemented several product and organizational changes, including introducing a paid Twitter-verified blue tick service and reducing the workforce by about 80%.
Musk’s goal has been to improve Twitter’s revenue generation after a decline in advertising income last year before finally acquiring the company following a series of negotiations.
